I asked them-
What sounds interesting to you?
1. Make/design/paint panels to be incorporated into sculpture
2. Use letter punch to write a poem, sentence or story on small sheets of aluminum
3. Make elements to hang from the sculpture like wind chimes or mobiles
4. Create other detachable elements on poles (butterflies, birds, etc) to add to top of sculpture to blow in the wind
5. Paint door or windows to be added to sculpture
6. Hand stitch or embroider pillows for the seats inside the locomotive sculpture
7. Weave and bend wire to create elements to be added to sculpture
8. Hand paint ceramic tiles for the table tops or floor for inside the locomotive sculpture
9. Use oil paint pens to design steel cutouts (likely steel) circles- which I will weld or bolt to the sculpture
10. Make bird seed balls to hang off the sculpture inviting birds to join the final event
11. Use finger-paints to paint fabrics which will be made into curtains, flags, or wall coverings
12. Paint premade steel flowerlike shapes to be added to a ‘flower box’ on the sculpture
13. Create poems that will be written or wallpapered onto sculpture
14. Create audio recording or resident memories of trains and rail transportation
15. Stamp patterns on wood steel or fabric
16. Paint wooden 2x4s that I will then make into walls or benches
17. Hammer small nails into patterns on wooden 2x4s that I will make into walls or benches
18. Paint premade birdhouses I will attach to the sculpture
19. Wrap steel pipes or wood panels with colorful duct-tape and resident designed stickers
20. Glue colorful Plexiglas or colorful plastic film to window materials for a stained glass affect
If they have different ideas for the art workshop at their facility, they will contact their Locomotive Sculpture Coordinator know and they will pass the idea on to me! I will let you know what each place has decided to do for their workshops when I hear back. What would you choose if you were participating?
